Fall is a good time to change up your self-care routine, and these self-care essentials for fall can help. Make room to add some cozy elements to help make the fall time more special and magical!

I love the fall as many others do as well. There is something about the changing of the seasons that prompts me to take time to sit back and enjoy the moment and practice some self-care.

“If you feel “burnout” setting in, if you feel demoralized and exhausted, it is best, for the sake of everyone, to withdraw and restore yourself.”

Dalai Lama

Sometimes it is easy to put self-care on hold, especially when times get busy, like during the holidays. It is easy to forget about ourselves and focus on the busyness during the holidays and trying to get everything done that is on our plates. The fall is a perfect time to reflect inward before the holidays and the end-of-the-year rush.

This is why I curated a list of self-care essentials for fall to help you create that extra bit of care and nurturing for yourself.

So, take some time to yourself this month, whether it is a break from work, doing some fall deep cleaning and cozying up your environment, getting some more sleep, or practicing some self-care. Try adding some of these self-care essentials for fall into your routine.

Read on for a list of my top recommended self-care essentials for fall (or anytime)! I hope some of them spark some ideas and cozy vibes for your fall self-care.

Self-Care Essentials For Fall

Candles

The number one self-care essential for fall is candles in my opinion. Specifically cozy and warm fall-scented candles. The cozy smell and the dim soft light of the flame create an essence that just shouts out self-care.

I love these flickering battery operated candles in gold as they look like they create a cool warm glowing ambience. Cool thing is you can reuse them over and over again and also throughout the year!

Mood Lighting

There are a variety of fairy lights on the market that create a perfectly cozy mood. You can create a cozy atmosphere with these warm, battery-operated strings, placing them strategically within your home and décor, such as in clear glass jars to set yourself up for a cozy night in.

One of my favorite types of lighting that I like to place in my home is string lights above my windows, my bed, and other areas to make it feel cozy and relaxing. I always choose the warm lighting effect because it creates a much cozier vibe. This type of lighting can transform any home or apartment into a cozy fall comfort sanctuary. I typically use LED icicle-style string lights, but there are so many different types on the market such as these globe string lights.

Another cool lighting effect that is easy and affordable is to buy color changing light bulbs. Just replace your regular light bulbs with these. I love the way these can transform every room in my home. They come in many different settings and colors to suit whatever vibe you are feeling. For fall, I usually have mine on red or dim warm lighting.

Skincare

Nurture yourself with a new skincare routine. When I switch up my skincare routine, I look for vegan and cruelty-free products and always try out the sampler sets and travel sizes first. The sampler sets are also helpful because they come with the products already put together in a system to make your skincare ritual simple.

One I recently tried was this sampler set and I’m really enjoying it so far: Fleur & Bee Discovery Set

Lotion

Cozy scented lotion does the trick in feeling luxurious and taking care of skin that can get drier as the seasons begin to change.

I tried the SOL DE JANEIRO Brazilian Bum Bum Cream over the summer and it is so luxurious and soothing and the scent is so comforting and warm that it also is ideal for fall.

Want to try it first? Go to their website where you can choose 4 mini size products plus a free travel pouch: Build Your Mini Set.

Victoria’s Secret Pink Warm & Cozy is one of my favorite body lotions to slather on when I want to feel cozy and luxurious.

Hempz lotions are affordable, vegan, and cruelty-free. They have some limited edition fall-scented selections such as this Pumpkin Spice & Vanilla Chai (think cozy and spicy). You can purchase it here:

Fall Mugs and Warm Drinks

Relaxing with a warm drink in an aesthetic fall-seasoned mug is the essential comfy fall self-care item. Snuggle up and enjoy your favorite fall drink such as hot cocoa, a latte, coffee, or tea.

Cozy Blankets

I love my Society6 cozy and festive throw blanket that I bought last year, so if you are looking for a soft cozy throw blanket, check out the Society6 website. Society6 has a large selection of unique designs, created by artists. You can find one (or a few) that add to your décor and personality. To keep with the fall theme, below are some favorites that I curated for you from the Society6 website:

This turmeric colored throw blanket is perfect for the fall season decor

I love this Crescent Moon Garden throw blanket

Check out these cute and fun autumn nights throws here and here.

Practicing Gratitude

This gratitude journal inspires the practice of self-care, positivity and gratitude and is a perfect supplement to the fresh start that fall brings. This journal is from the RYVE store which has a beautiful line of self-care and reflection sets.

Journaling

A brand-new journal with blank untouched pages is like a fresh start. Perfect for the changing of seasons! What says self-care more than cozying up with a fresh journal to write out what’s on your mind, do reflection prompts like these: “life-reflection prompts worksheet”, or writing your morning pages?

Here are a few blank journals I curated for you:

This journal looks really magical: Autumn Moon Journal

This one is simple and timeless: Tree of Life Journal

I love Fringe journals, and this one is one of my favorites with a Henry Miller quote and celestial design: “Mysterious

Here’s another fall season Fringe journal: “This Season

Coloring Mandalas

Relax and reduce stress by cozying up and doing some coloring with this Autumn Mandela Coloring Book for adults.

Books

Reading a good book of fiction or an old classic piece literature will bring your self-care ritual all together as you read and get yourself lost in a dream world, or fantasy, while possibly gaining some insight and clarity. There are so many wonderful stories out there, but here are a couple that perhaps you can cozy up and get lost in this fall:

“Walden” by Henry David Thoreau is one of my favorite all-time pieces of literature that is a perfect read for the fall time.

“Where the Crawdads Sing” by Delia Owens is a more newer read that I couldn’t put down and feel it is a good one to read for fall.

“The Twilight Saga”by Stephanie Meyer (because why not?) Purchase the whole saga and get snuggled and begin reading. Or, is there a part of the saga you haven’t read yet? Pick that one up and start where you left off in the series.

In Summary

Next, practice some of the things mentioned in this post and pick up some aesthetic fall self-care items to go along with your self-care routine. Let me know on Instagram what you do for your self-care fall routine.

Enjoy!
